The United Councils and Cities of Cameroon (UCCC) recently hosted a transformative Digitization Workshop in the vibrant city of Bamenda, bringing together stakeholders from across the region to strengthen digital capacities within local councils. The two day workshop which took place at the Bamenda 1 hall brought together Local government officials, IT professionals, civil society representatives, and youth leaders. The objectives of the workshop was to:
-Build digital literacy among council staff
-Introduce e-governance tools for streamlined municipal services
-Promote the adoption of data-driven decision-making
-Share success stories from councils already implementing digital solutions
Participants engaged in hands-on sessions covering digital platforms, cybersecurity basics, and cloud-based service delivery. The workshop also emphasized collaboration between councils to share best practices and scale innovations. Most notably, several councils committed to launching pilot e-services in their municipalities over the next quarter. This initiative underscores UCCC’s commitment to building resilient, tech-savvy local governments that can meet citizens’ needs more efficiently. Bamenda’s hosting of this workshop reflects its growing role as a hub for development and innovation.

Ndop Council is one of the four councils in the Ngoketunjia Division of the North West Region. Historically, it was part of the South Eastern Federation of Native Authorities, created in 1940. In 1960, the area was divided, and Ndop became a part of the newly created Ndop Council.
